Luanne Margaret Hervey

Luanne M. Hervey, 74, of Pinellas Park, Florida passed away February 9, 2016 after valiantly battling Parkinson’e disease. She is finally resting in peace.  She struggled through impossible odds and countless setbacks-never once with a complaint or negative view of her situation. Her children are grateful that they were able to tell her goodbye together. She passed in peace like a Mardi Gras Queen with her husband, Tom, at her side.

Luanne was born November 20, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late James M. Walker and Margaret Anderson Walker.

She was an elementary school teacher for many years in Hawaii and Louisiana. She enjoyed shopping, sailing, traveling,  and had been president of her local teacher’s union.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry George “Sonny” Saam III; brother, Murray Walker; and mother in law, Mildred Saam.

Survivors include her husband: Thomas P. Hervey; son, Henry George “Max” Saam IV and his wife, Leslie of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Killian Malia Gilbert-Smith and her husband, Doug of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren: Henry Saam, Connor Saam, Luke Gilbert-Smith and Lilly Gilbert-Smith; and two stepchildren, Rick and Terry Hervey, and Debbie and Mitch Cohen.
