Maj. Gladys Badgett, RN, USAF


Gladys Regina Badgett was born on May 21, 1927 in University City, Missouri. She passed away on November 29, 2011 and a graveside service was held at Bay Pines National Cemetery. She was a devout Catholic.

Military Service

Gladys entered the United States Air Force at the age of 27 on September 16, 1955. She spent 20 years in the Air Force finally retiring on September 30, 1975 and rising to the rank of Major. She was a nurse during Vietnam and served in duty stations in Alaska, Thailand and Vietnam.

Awards and Decorations

At the time of her retirement in 1975, Major Gladys Badgett was entitled to wear the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, two Air Force Longevity Service Awards and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Special Acknowledgements

Veterans Funeral Care would like to thank the family of Major Badgett for donating her Air Force Service Dress uniform which can be seen at the Veterans Funeral Care museum.
