Margaret (Peggy) Loyce Walker-Aldridge passed away peacefully in Palm Harbor, Florida on April 6, 2023. She was 79. Peggy was born in Danville, Illinois on February 16, 1944 to the late Curtis and Lois (Sutton) Walker.
After graduation from Flint Township’s Dye High School, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and began a rewarding nursing career at Flint Osteopathic Hospital and later, after consolidation, Genesys Regional Hospital. During her tenure, she made many lifelong friendships and was regarded by all as an excellent nurse. Peggy retired in 1998.
Peggy married Jay Aldridge on November 7, 1964. Together they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage and many would say that they can’t imagine one without the other. They raised their two daughters in Grand Blanc, Michigan and fully enjoyed postretirement stops in Rudyard and Clio, MI. After Jay’s passing in April 2021, Peggy permanently relocated to their winter retreat in Palm Harbor, Florida. While it wasn’t the same without Jay, she tackled each day with optimism. Her large network of thoughtful and caring friends at Bay Aire Park ensured that her social calendar remained full.
When not participating in a dinner, dance, bingo, hurricane preparations, or an impromptu chocolate martini outing with the Girls Club, she would happily pass the time at her sewing machine. Peggy was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed making beautiful quilts for family and military veteran organizations. The snowbirds at Bay Aire are returning home for the summer months. Not one to be left out, Peggy made her own plan.
She is now ‘home’ with the love of her life. She was also predeceased by her parents, brother-in-law Ivan Middleton, sister-in-law Zelda Middleton, and sister-in-law Juanita Daly. She will be forever loved by her sister Sondra (Charles) Tucker; two daughters Lisa (Ed) Merriam and Jay-Lynne (Dave) Williams; four grandchildren Chris, Madison (Matt), Sydney, and Paris; nephews, nieces, cousins, extended relatives, and a voluminous list of dear friends.
I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom (Peggy) I have so many childhood memories at your house on Fenton Road. Your mom and dad were both amazing people. We’re sad she’s gone but know her and your dad are having an amazing reunion. Cherish all those memories in your heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love you ,
Randy & Donna French
As one of the smartest ladies I know, mom (Peggy) taught me much. She even left me with a final lesson. When Lisa and I recently stayed at her place, we noticed that the cupboards contained no everyday dinnerware. Instead, she regularly used her Fine China. There’s a meaning in there. 😉
Sending love & strength to family.
Peggy & I go back 40+ years. She has been a dear friend & mentor for me. We worked together @ FOH.
My condolences go out to the family. Peggy always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. I knew her many years from FOH to Genesys. She will be sadly missed!

So sad to hear of Peggy’s passing. I first met Peggy at FOH about 35 years ago – she was a great nurse and everyone liked her as soon as they met her. Her infectious smile was ever present as well as her bubbly personality.
