Marie B. Salinero, age 96, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2020. Born in Avon Park, FL on December 10, 1923, Marie resided in Tampa for many years then moved to Pinellas county in the early 60’s and resided there until she passed.
Marie was a hairdresser for many years and was particularly proud of her service as a welder on aircraft built for service during World War II. She and her late husband, Antonio “Tony”, were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks.
She is survived by two daughters Ina Flowers (Armand) and Nancy Mitchell (John), son Arthur Salinero (Barbara), one sister, several nephews, one niece, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Marie’s family would also like to acknowledge and thank her longtime friend and caregiver Cristina Collins whom Marie considered a very real part of her family.
Due to coronavirus constraints no formal services are planned. She’ll be laid to rest beside her husband at Corinth Cemetery, in Ft. Meade, FL on Thursday April 9th at 11:30.

I was saddened to hear about Marie’s passing. She was a wonderful long time friend of my mother’s, Margie Kent. I always looked forward to taking my mom to see Marie when we were in town. Marie had a wonderful sense of humor and an amazing memory and she and my mom really enjoyed spending time together. My deepest sympathy goes to Marie’s family and Cristina. God bless all of you.

I miss you so much. Thank you for being a strong, caring and compassionate woman. Thank you for taking care of me, my sister Jamie and brother Josh when we were young. All of the summer memories of my childhood are flooding back into my mind. I wish I could have been there, to spend more time with you, to hold your hand one more time. Thank you for the meals you prepared with love and taking me to the farm at granny Bennets and getting to know your family.
I am so thankful for my Aunt Ina and Uncle Armond and my favorite cousins Amy, Matt, Vonda who were there for you when I could not be.
I wish my family lived closer to you and that we visited more. Know that I thought of you often and have your and grandaddy Tony’s picture in my living room where I could see you and recollect on our time together.
Thank you for taking me to Church and help develop my faith in God that has been my compas and guided me throughout my life.

To Marie’s Family:

Our families have been friends for many decades through attendance at Riverside Baptist Church in Tampa and the close life-long friendship between Marie and Margie Kent, my mother. Marie and Margie shared the last decade as neighbors in the Lake Seminole/Freedom Square community. Marie helped Margie feel “at home” when she first moved in. Visiting Margie over recent years we frequently saw Marie, and enjoyed knowing Ina, Armand, and Cristina as well. We enjoyed sharing many aspects of their long and enduring friendship. We feel honored to have known Marie and her family, and hold each of you in our thoughts and heart-felt prayers at this sad time.
I will miss seeing my Aunt Marie’s smiling face at family gatherings. She was a lovely woman and I only wish I had had the time and inclination to talk to her about her life experiences. For instance, I didn’t know about her wartime job in industry, helping our troops win WWII. I admired her and my uncle Papi (Tony) Salinero greatly. My condolences to my cousins and her grandchildren and great-grands.
