Marilyn Maxine Hawsey, 78, of Brandon, Florida passed away June 7, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Marilyn was born January 16, 1939 in Odessa, Michigan, the daughter of the late William Commee and Maxine Durkee Commee.   She was a devoted wife, mother and “granny” who will be remembered for her generosity and unselfishness, her caring soul, her laughter and sense of humor, her feisty spirit, her steadfastness in her beliefs, her delicious spaghetti sauce and meatballs, her special cheesecake, and her love of crossword puzzles, her house and yard, antiques, cookbooks and medical books.  She found joy in the simple things and never asked for anything for herself but found pleasure in giving and helping others especially her children and grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her four brothers: Bill “Edmund” Commee, Clarence Commee, Durwood Commee and Lauren Commee, and one sister: Marlene Barber.   Survivors include her devoted husband of 52 years, Bobby Hawsey, two sons: Ronald Mayne and his wife Theresa of Valrico, Fl, Troy Hawsey of Brandon, one daughter: Robin Birchfield and her husband, Bill, of McLean, VA, seven grandchildren: Lacey Mayne, Taylor Mayne, Katie Mayne, Audrey Kate Birchfield, Hayden Birchfield, Ava Birchfield and Nathan Birchfield; two great grandsons: Tristan Mayne and Remy Mayne; three brothers: Roger Commee of Michigan, Gordon Commee of Seffner, FL, and Tom “Junior” Commee, and three sisters: Margene Fales of Brandon, Carolyn Jones of New Port Richey, and Sally Cramer of Apollo Beach, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
