Martin Aaron Slavney of Clearwater passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on January 13, 1931 to the late Leo and Sarah Slavney. He grew up in Madison.
Marty met his wife Betty (Hochhauser) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He became an avid Bengal’s fan. Later, they moved to Clearwater, Florida where they resided for 40 years.
Marty graduated from the University of Miami at Coral Gables with a degree in business after serving in the United States Marine Corps. He worked in both automobile sales and leasing and commercial real estate.
Marty was a member of Rotary of Clearwater, The Masons, and Temple Ahavat Shalom in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Marty is survived by Betty, his wife of 62 years. He is also survived by his son Steven Slavney, daughters Bari Nagy (Mark) and Sharon Wurster, and granddaughters Samantha Nagy, Rachael Nagy, and Ciara Slavney, and his brother Kenneth Slavney. Marty was preceded in death by his brother Gerald (Ruth) and his sister Beverly.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 11:00 am at Temple Ahavat Shalom, 1575 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34683 with military honors by the United States Marine Corps and VFW Post #10209. Rabbi Gary Klein will officiate. Martin will be interred at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 2:30 pm.

Marty was always a good neighbor with a kind word , he will be missed.
