Matthew Whitten

Matthew Whitten (43) of Apollo Beach, Jacksonville, and Tampa, FL, and originally from Lansdale, PA passed away on September 18, 2021 following a brief illness.  Matthew left behind a significant everlasting impact on everyone he ever encountered.  The most genuine, generous and loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, Matt’s sense of humor and quick sarcastic wit were unmatched. He spent his life making others laugh and his smile was contagious.

Matthew graduated in 1996 from Countryside High School in Clearwater where he was a multi-sport athlete.  Matt went on to St. Petersburg Junior College which prepared him for a career in the mortgage field, most recently with Truist Financial.  While attending St. Petersburg, Matt coached the school’s women’s basketball team.  He loved music, especially classic 90s hip hop, Philadelphia sports and playing golf. He was the best non-employee tour guide for all things Disney, and most importantly always competing with his brothers.

Matthew is survived by his Mother Elizabeth Whitten, Brothers Brett and Craig (Kristin) Whitten, Stepbrother Shaun Dillinger, and Nieces and Nephews Tyler, Hunter, Jane, and Kaelyn.  Matthew is preceded in death by his Father Lewis Alan Whitten who was waiting with a basketball in hand to play on heavens court with his son.

Memorial to be held on October 2, 2021, in Chalfont, PA, followed by a memorial in Florida at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Matthew’s name to the North Penn Valley Boys and Girls Club in Lansdale, PA where Matt was a very active member growing up in Lansdale.
