Maurice “Moe” DeVito, 80, of Naples, Florida, passed away at his home on May 3, 2018. He was born in Flushing, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann (Freeman) DeVito.
Mo served his country in the United States Navy where worked with the Hurricane Hunters program and the spent 25 years in the New York City Police Department as a member of the Fort Apache Bronx Precinct.
He will be remembered for his love of nature, the beach and the ocean. Mo also enjoyed fishing, boating, fly tying, cooking, and reading. He was a very generous man towards his family and friends. He was always there when you needed him.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann DeVito; son, Thomas (wife, Evelyn) DeVito; daughter, Deborah A. Bergquist; brothers, Joe and John (wife, Angie) DeVito; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer and Michelle Bergquist and Christina, Sean, Nicholas, Ryan DeVito; and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. On Friday, June 14, 2019, at 2:00PM, there will be a service with Military Honors at Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, New York, 11735.
