Michael Frederick Mears, L/CPL-United States Marine Corps-Gulf War Veteran, 39, of Tampa, Florida and formerly of Columbus, Ohio funeral service are 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Calvary Community Church, 4811 George Road, Tampa, Florida 33634 with Dr. Ralph “Yankee” Arnold, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 Am until service time. Graveside services and full military honors will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday Afternoon, January 20, 2015 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with full military honors by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
Normally residing in Tampa, he was born on September 27, 1975 in the Canal Zone, Panama to William and Joanna (Cordova) Mears. He was a Gulf War Veteran that served our nation in Somalia and Afghanistan from 1993 through 1997 when he was injured while in service aboard a US Navy ship. He was medically retired from the United States Marine Corps. Michael was a member of the Moose Lodge; Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
He is survived by his parents: father, William A. Mears and his wife, Karen of Wesley Chapel, Florida; his mother, Joanna Cordova Wysocki and her husband, Alex of Lakeland, Florida; a brother, Anthony Mears and his wife, Chastity of Tampa Florida; half brother, Nicholas Mears of Orlando, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and friends.
