In loving memory of Miguel Nieves, born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on May 17, 1946. Around 11 years old, he left and grew up in Spanish Harlem and Brooklyn, NY. Fondly recalling the days of stickball, stoop gatherings, his love for the Yankees and meeting Barbara, the love of his life. At 17, Mickey joined the Navy where he found a sense of duty, and love of traveling. Afterwards, he worked on Wall Street, married, and eventually relocated with Drake’s Cakes to Largo, FL. He went on to work in management with McDonalds,Albertsons and retiring with over 25 years from Walgreens. Marriage blessed him with two children and, later, the joy of seven grandchildren. A devoted grandfather, Abuelo, passionately supported their baseball, basketball, football, gymnastics and dance. His after-school ritual of picking them up with snacks, Little Bites muffins, and each a bottle of their favorite color sports drink became a cherished tradition. Abuelo will be remembered for his warmth, love, dancing in his James Brown style, always singing and enduring impact on family and friends. May his legacy live on through the memories he created with those he loved.
