Wilfredo Cruz-Torres was born on February 11, 1937 to Claudio Cruz and Maria Torres in Utuado, Puerto Rico. He passed away on December 29, 2016 at Bay Pines VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is survived by a loving family.
Military History
Master Sergeant Torres retired from the United States Army after serving a total of 27 years. He was an outstanding and decorated recruiter in the Army. At the time of his retirement he was eligible to wear the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, two overseas service bars, eight good conduct awards, his drivers badge, the Army Commendation Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm, the US Army Gold Recruiters Badge with three Sapphire Achievement Stars, the Army Service Ribbon and two Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons on his uniform.
Military Honors
A memorial service with military honors provided by the United States Army will be scheduled at Puerto Rico National Cemetery at a later date.
