Nancy Jean Alciatore

Nancy Jean Alciatore, age 79, of Clearwater, FL, passed away on September 26, 2023. She was born on November 6, 1943, in Murfreesboro, TN; grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI; raised her own children in Michigan; and went on to live for 20 years in Aspen, CO and 20 more years in Clearwater, FL. Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Nancy spent the last 40 years of her life alongside her loving husband, Gaston Alciatore. Together, they built a beautiful life. She raised three children: Anne Benda, Jonathan Schans, and Peter M Schans, as well as two step children: Karen Alciatore Pariser and Brian Alciatore. Nancy also cherished her role as big sister to four younger siblings: Mary Miller, Peter Goeman, Jane Pendley, and Don Goeman. She also adored her K9 Cavalier companion, Cooper. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jonathan, and her parents, Emma and Lester Goeman. Her family was her pride and joy.

Nancy was an active “Nanna” to her six grandchildren: Hannah Russell, Edward Benda, Nancy Benda-Pierce, Peter F Schans, Adam Schans, and Lani Schans; as well as her two step-grandchildren, Everett Alciatore and Jacob Pariser, and great grandson Owen Russell. She adored spending time with them, and was lucky enough to teach the older ones to ski. She spearheaded and enjoyed many domestic and international trips with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy led by example, always prepared, organized, kind, fair, creative, and ambitious. Nancy graduated from Grosse Pointe High School, attended Hope College and earned her degree at The Ohio State University. She then embarked on an impressive career, including Vice President at Metro Computing, award winning account executive at IBM, and ran several successful small businesses with her husband. She served in leadership with many organizations, including several years as president of Les Dames in Aspen, CO.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Nancy found joy in her many hobbies. She was an avid bridge player and teacher, achieving the prestigious title of Ruby Life Master. Nancy was a downhill skier, tennis player, biker, runner, and even marathoner. She was also a talented decorator, knitter, and crafter who could often be heard to say “I could make that.” She could tackle anything.

Her favorite hobby was arguably travel. She traveled the world with her husband, Guy, always in pursuit of maintaining United Airlines 1K status, and even taking the time to improve her French so she could properly enjoy their home in Ville Franche, France. She biked all over Europe, sometimes with grandchildren. Eventually traveling became cruising; Nancy completed over 40 cruises in the last 10 years.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE honoring Nancy will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2:00pm-4:00pm, at Countryside Country Club, 3001 Countryside Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33761. A program will begin at 2:30pm. Family and friends are encouraged to gather together to remember Nancy and celebrate her remarkable journey and the impact she made on their lives.

If you would like to honor Nancy, her favorite flowers were tulips, befitting her Dutch heritage. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to one of the many organizations she supported, including The American Heart Association, ALS Association, and Cavalier Rescue USA.

Nancy Jean Alciatore will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication, fortitude, and accomplishments. Her legacy lives on through her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
