Nettie S. Mckee, 99 of Conroe, Texas, and formerly Largo, Florida and Shadow Hills, California, passed away on Sunday November 4th. Born in Meredith, New York to David & Agnes Snyder, she came to Florida in 1981 from California. She was predeceased by her husband, Master Sergeant Bill McKee.
Nettie was the “Visitation Pastor” at Clearwater First Assembly of God for many years. Each week she would faithfully get in her car with the Weekly Church Bulletin and Pentecostal Evangel Magazines and go visit Nursing Homes and shut-ins from the church. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Billings, Port Orchard, Washington, Cynthia Woolnough, The Woodlands, Texas, her six grandchildren, Roger, Michael, David, Jacob, Kyla & Sonja, seven great grandchildren, Tudor, Kiren, Shannon, Evelyn, Amelia, James, and Joseph.
She was buried at Florida National Cemetery with her husband Bill. Memorial Services will begin at 3:00PM on Sunday, November 25th at Clearwater First Assembly of God Church, 1739 S MLK Blvd, Clearwater, Florida. Pastor Eddy Lamb will be officiating.
I am so grateful for Netties life! She was a person who didn’t need a job “out front” or on stage. She had a heart for people who were shut in, really sick, not able to come to church. So she brought “church” to them. She served Pastor Don, Pastor Steve, Pastor Eddy and Pastor Jeff. Every church needs a “Nettie McKee.” Who will take her place? God bless her memory, she will never be forgotten at First Assembly in Clearwater.
Nettie had the heart of a servant. Always willing to go above and beyond when she saw a need. She brought Church to those who could not attend. A true Prayer Warrior.
She would help me with funeral dinners often. She was an encourager to those who needed a push or kind word. A true servant of God whose life blessed so many.
Nettie’s energy was powered by a Godly compassionate, servant heart. She was an amazing lady. The passing of her baton will probably take a dozen people. Thankful for her life & ministry. Love & prayers for all her family & friends.
This is taken from a paper I did Feb. 11, 2006 when I was attending Southeastern University. It was from a class for Pastoral Theology. The paper was called Vital Functions of the Church. This memory has stuck with me from then until now! This is and was Nettie!
“I really didn’t want to mention any names in this paper but Nettie McKee, bears mentioning. She is a seasoned citizen member of our church who does visitation and caring for the shut-ins, people in the hospital and many times wheel-chair transport in her Ford Taurus. She is and remains to me the most visible element of care in our church. While speaking to Nettie at Wed. night service once Nettie said she was a little tired as she had visited 14 people that day. As it is improper to ask a lady their age I would guess she is somewhere near 80 years old? Nettie wows me at her dedication and love for care of people. I pray for laborers that would help her and follow her example.”
What can we say about Nettie. She was one of the most consistent, and faithful women we have ever known. Kind and thoughtful with a great concern for others. She is certainly a stalwart of the faith. She must have a very heavy crown in heaven. She was a friend to my mom and my aunt and uncle and visited them many times.
She was an inspiration to all who knew her. God bless you Nettie. Love JT and Dorothy.
I was Nettie’s pastor for many years. She was a dedicated American Christian willing to serve her Lord and her church family wherever needed. She was loyal and faithful to her calling and serving spirit. She will be missed. We seek Gods comfort and pray God’s blessings upon the family. May all commit themselves to follow her legacy.
Nettie was a great servant of the Lord! She made it her mission to visit every shut in that ever attended First Assembly. Then she would always report back any needs they may have. She was a true prayer warrior! She was a great lady who love First Assembly! I’m sure she is visiting everyone in heaven like she did here on earth. Prayers for her family!
Another pillar of the church has been called home! Nettie was such a faithful servant of the Lord and a marked influence in the life and history of First Assembly of God Church, Clearwater. Her love for the lord and her zeal in life caused her to be a blessing and spark of life to everyone that knew her. She was steadfast behind the scenes but not quiet or unnoticed. She was courageous and not restrained and she would always reveal to you what she thought. I personally loved the way she always greeted me with a smile and made sure I responded to her. Nettie you have finally reached the place that remains our hope today. You will be missed but we live in the blessing of what it means to remember you.
Wow, its so wonderful to read about Nettie’s life and ministry in our church from those who knew her so well. I’m so unfortunate not to have really known her or her ministry to people and to our church. My prayer is that God will give us 10 people like her during my tenure as Pastor!!
