Norman Douglas, beloved father of Ronald Douglas, grandfather of Kayla Douglas, and ex-father-in-law of Andrea, peacefully passed away on May 22, 2024, at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Joanne, and his sisters, Eileen, Mary Douglas, and Natalie Dumican.
Norman proudly served his country in the Marines, Army, and Army National Guard for twenty years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and courage. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career at the United States Post Office, where he served as a window clerk for twenty-three years, touching the lives of countless individuals with his professionalism and kindness.
Outside of work, Norman found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying watching games and collecting baseball and football cards. His passion for sports was matched only by his love for his family, cherishing moments spent with his son, granddaughter, and extended relatives.
Norman’s legacy of service, dedication, and love will be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be cherished by his family and friends for generations to come.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Norman’s life and celebrate the profound impact he had on those around him. Instead of flowers, the family asks for donations to a charity of your choice in Norman’s memory. May he rest in peace, knowing he was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Dear Ronald, Kayla and Andrea,
First of all, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to you. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share with you in the private memorial service. I only wish I could have et your Dad/grandfather. What an amazing tribute you have composed for his obituary! May the Lord grant His peace beyond your need in this season of your life.
Sincerely His and yours,
Pastor Nelson
Chip, Our condolences to you and your family. I will always remember you too having conversations that usually ended with your dad saying “Stop by such a Smart alec all the time.”
