Patricia Allen, 71, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on August 20, 2018. She was born in Camden, New Jersey and had been a longtime resident of Florida.
Pat met her husband Jim in her home after Christmas 1968. It was truly love at first sight and they eloped six months later in Pennsylvania. They recently celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.
Pat and Jim resided in Florida until Jim reenlisted in the Army in 1972. They were stationed in Germany for six years and it was during their time there that Pat developed a love for Europe. It was also where they welcomed their son, William J. Allen, Jr. into the world. They moved back to Florida in 1980 and have been in Florida ever since.
There were many things Pat loved in life including her husband, family, traveling, her church and she absolutely loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She really enjoyed spending time with her family and her favorite holiday of the year was Christmas. She attended First Christian Church in Clearwater and had been a member there since 1986.
Pat was a Medical Assistant for many years and served on the board of the Florida Medical Assistants of Florida, serving in all of the leadership positions. She has been the Secretary and Treasurer for The Veterans Group of Lake Tarpon since 2010; the President of Veterans Are Foundation (formerly the Veterans Aid Foundation) since 2011; and the facilitator of Bob’s Vets since 2015
She was presided in death by her parents, Charles Albert Patton and Elizabeth Marie Deal; and her sister, Carol Bruce. She is survived by her husband, William J. Allen, Sr.; son William J. Allen, Jr. and his wife Jennifer; sister, Betty Darby; brother, Charles Patton, Jr. and his wife Jackie; grandchildren, Tyler and Bradley Allen; Godchildren, Cathy Sue Bruce and Joe Darby; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the First Christian Church located at 2299 Drew Street, Clearwater, FL 33765. A time of gathering will commence at 9:00AM and a Memorial Service will follow at 10:00AM. Patricia will be interred at Florida National Cemetery following a 2:30PM Committal Service.
