Patricia Ann (Payne) Leave of St Petersburg left this world on April 8, 2022. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Roger H Leave and is survived by six daughters; Rosemarie Taylor, Lorraine Vallario (Ron), Mary Ridgeway (Brit), Teresa Gandeza, Patricia Grimsley (Greg) and Dolores Petrak (Durwood Pate), 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Pat was the oldest daughter of six children born to Ross and Regina Payne. She was born in Newark, New Jersey but her family moved to St Petersburg, Florida after World War II from Trenton, New Jersey. She is predeceased by her mother, father and older brother, Robert Payne. She is survived by sisters: Joyce Yakes (Jay); Regina Tebbs (John); and brothers Thomas Payne (Peggy) and Jack Payne (Cydney). She had many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all over the country that she loved dearly.
Pat was a military wife (US Coast Guard) for 26 years, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a great cook (always trying new recipes) and a gracious hostess (always inviting family and friends to dinner and to visit). Staying in touch with family was important to her and every few years we would all travel usually to a state park to meet up with other family members for reunions.
She traveled the world with Roger, her husband of 63 years and was an expert in relocating her family and home to each new military station. She loved learning about new cultures; the people, the food, and the history. She and my father made and kept friends everywhere they went, returning to visit many in their travels.
Pat was a faithful Roman Catholic her entire life, always praying for others with the rosary she kept in her pocket. She loved her faith and believed strongly in Jesus’ words. She believed in loving and helping others and prayed always that mankind would be at peace. Pat was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for twenty plus years. Roger joined her in that effort the last 5 years. She was also a Eucharistic minister for many years at St Paul’s Catholic Church.
She will be dearly missed but we trust she is with God and the angels and saints now. We know that she is still with us in spirit, loving and praying for us.
A Memorial Mass will be held May 14, 2022, at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 1800 12th St N, St Petersburg. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St Vincent de Paul, https://www.svdpsp.org

We are heartbroken over the loss of our Aunt Pat. She was a wonderful Aunt, and a deeply beautiful soul. We will miss her so much. She is going to be forever missed, and loved beyond measure.♥️ All Our love always, Mark, Reva, Mark, Sophia, Matthew, and Jackson
I did not have the opportunity to meet Pat personally but knew her through the magnificent and beautiful soul of her daughter Teresa who represents her mother in a way that surely made her proud. My wish is that Pet’s heavenly travels will be filled with beauty and peace.
Our deepest condolences may the family find peace and hold on to the beautiful memories of the love and joy they had with Pat such a great soul she is resting now may these times be of love ❤️
