Richard J. Spires, 90 years was born on November 12, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on September 4, 2021 in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was the son of Edward Spires and Catherine Hostetter. He graduated from Denby High School and worked briefly at the Bud Company before he was drafted during the Korean War. Because of his knowledge of mechanics, he was sent to Germany to join the Corp of Engineers.
After his time in the service, he went to Walsh Business School and started his career in accounting. At retirement, he was Vice President at R. P. Sherer Corporation. He loved his Harley; but, gave it up in later years, He also loved his sailboat, sailing the Great L:akes. In later years, he built model airplanes for himself and other members of his flying club.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen, daughter, Diane, sons, John and James and granddaughter, Parker. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Barbara.
Richard will be buried at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida.
