Richard Timothy Maloney


Richard Timothy Maloney, 70, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Bay Pines VA Hospital.  He was born in Woburn, MA, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1977 from Minnesota.

Richard served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  Following his service, he worked in a number of businesses as a recruiter, salesman, human resources, phone services and car salesman. He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War posts for many years.

Richard loved his family, loved living in Florida and loved to have a good time. He liked music, swimming, the sun and making people laugh.  He was known for several quotes including, “The apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree”, “Where else would you rather be” and “You just have to live your life”.  It can be said of Richard, “He lived his life to the fullest.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Roland; brother, Tom; and sister, Rita.  He is survived by his mother, Louise; daughters, Paula, Kelli and Michelle; brothers, James and Joseph; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Memorial Service with military honors is scheduled for 3:00PM on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
