Robert Arndt was born on October 14, 1922 to Edward and Pauline (Doerfler) Arndt in Chicago, Illinois. He went to be with Lord on June 26, 2018 at his home in Redington Shores, Florida surrounded by his loving family. Robert and Alberta have been members at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks for over 40 years.
Family
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Edward, Maxine, Dorothy, and Eleanor. Additionally he is survived by his loving wife, Alberta Wood, to whom he was married to for over 25 years. He is also survived by his children Debbie (Norman) Benson, Joyce (Shawn) Hall, Patti (Van) Van Vaerenbergh, Cindy (Mike) Brief, Nancy (Jim) Gates, Ron (Kay) Mahoney, Donna (Earl) Barrett and many grandchildren.
Military
Robert joined the Army Air Corps on October 19, 1942 at the age of twenty. He was a turret gunner and flew many missions in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. At the time of his honorable discharge in 1945, Sergeant Arndt was eligible to wear four Air Medals, the Army Good Conduct Award, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with one Silver Battle Star, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal on his uniform.
Services
A graveside service with military honors provided by the United States Army is still in the process of scheduling at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
