Robert E. Rivard of Riverview, FL passed away on October 19, 2023 after a short illness. He was 72. Robert was born on November 24, 1950 in Nashua, NH to parents Roland A. and Eva B. Rivard (nee Levesque).
He was known for his blue eyes and proud military service. Robert enjoyed playing cards and games and the time he spent with family and friends.
Robert, a consummate Patriot and hero, proudly served in the U.S. Army as Staff Seargent during the Vietnam War. He was at an expert level with weapons and showed exceptional valor proven by the Medals he received: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (twice), Army Commendation Medal, Civil Actions Medal, Gallantry Cross, and a Marksmanship Medal.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Dianna Susan Hancock (nee Santiago); four children and 1 step-son, Jonathan Rivard, Jeffrey Rivard, Jennifer (Sean) Craven, Jessica (Josue) Barrantes, and Sandy (Shawn) Parsons and his wife, Shanie; two brothers; George (Ingrid) Rivard, and Paul (Dorothy) Rivard; one sister Doris (William) Armstrong; five grandchildren, Chase Parsons and Dakota Moulder, Morghan Craven, Landon Craven, and Wesley Craven; brother-in-law, Henry (Lori) Santiago; and his broad and cherished extended family of relatives and friends. He will be missed.
Robert will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 12:30 PM sharp, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513
