Robert Lee Burris, 84, US Navy-Korean War Veteran of Largo, Florida funeral service is 11:00 AM, Monday, November 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, Florida 33774 with Pastor Jim Black, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. Following the church service, graveside services will be at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 on November 7, 2016 @ 2:00 pm with full military honors being performed by the US Navy and the VFW Posts 10209 Honor Guards.
A native of Cleves, Ohio and a local resident since 1961, when he moved here from Aurora, Indiana. He was a retired Manager of the Ice Cream Section for Borden’s Milk Company; a Korean War Veteran; a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, Largo, Florida and a 33 year member of the Clearwater Evening Lions Club.
During his military career, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Born on September 1, 1932 in Cleves, Ohio, Robert passed away at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, Florida on October 30, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents, George Arthur and Corrine (Johnson) Burris; his son, David Burris; his first wife, Martha and many siblings, he is survived by his loving family. His wife, Bernita Burris of Largo, Florida; a son, Bobby Burris of Port Richey, Florida; two daughters; Jolene Marks of Largo, Florida and Michelle Keim and her husband, Brian of Seminole, Florida; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make a donation to the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks Missions Board in the Memory of Robert Lee Burris.
