Robert Roy Jackson, 83, of Clearwater, FL passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Honduras in October of 1936, he was the son of the late Wirt Jackson (“Papa Jack”) and Maria Sarrio (“Eta”). Roy married Barbara (Williams) in October of 2005 at Mansion by the Bay. They shared a wonderful 15 years of marriage.
Professionally, Roy was originally a career solider. He served 20 years in the US Army which included 2 tours in Vietnam. While having command of several units in his long career his assignments included Missile Materials Management Office and Research & Development Coordinator where he earned multiple awards including The Bronze Star. His retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel came in October of 1980. Roy carried a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech and was Owner/President of Enser Corporation.
His family who departed before him include his parents as well as sisters Vivian Jackson and Marcella Robin. Roy leaves behind a loving family including his wife Barbara; children Robert Jackson Jr, Julie Anglin and Jason (Nicole) Williams; step-children Jeff Echols, Melissa Word and Angela Echols Davis; siblings Will Jackson and Rowanna Currier and 5 grandchildren.
Roy was always an avid fan of University of Alabama football. Roll Tide!! Local sports like the Buccaneers and Rays along with a great game of golf were the other things Roy loved to enjoy.
Ceremonies are arranged by Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, FL. Roy will be laid to rest with full military honors at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Monday February 24th, 2020 at 1400hrs. The US Army honors team will bid their fellow officer his final salute on that day at that time.
