Robert W. Bellin Sr.-US Army-Retired-SFC-Vietnam War Veteran-former Largo City Commissioner


Robert W. Bellin Sr., US Army-Retired-SFC-Vietnam War Veteran and Retired Largo City Commissioner visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM at the chapel of Veterans Funeral Care, 830 North Belcher Road, Clearwater, Florida  33765.  The funeral service will begin at 12PM.  Graveside services will be on Monday, April 25, 2022 beginning at 9:30 AM  at the Largo City Cemetery, 1298 Jasper Street, Largo, Florida with the United States Army Honors and Ceremonial Team and Chaplin Robert W. Bellin Jr. to officiate.

He was born on February 4, 1936 in New Haven, CT to Morris and Cecelia (Stoddard) Bellin. He moved to the local area in 1975 from Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia.  SFC Bellin enlisted in the US Army.  During his career, he was assigned to the Field Artillery and Specialized in Light Weapons Infantryman and served for almost 22 years.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal w/OLC; Good Conduct Medal with 5 awards; 4 Overseas Service Bars; 7 Service Stripes; Soldiers Medal for Valor; Combat Infantryman Badge; Vietnam Service Medal w/ one OLC and 2 Bronze Stars; Korean War Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Devices; Bronze Star Medal w/ 2nd OLC; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm; Marksman Ship Badge (M-16) and (M-14); Expert Badge (105 Howitzer), Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry  and a Bronze Star and US Army Commendation Medal  He also served in Germany.

After returning to the local area; he worked for the Pinellas County School Board for 10 years as a substitute teacher and then a permanent teacher teaching homebound students; a member of Patriotic Krewe of Largo; Associate member of the greater Largo Chamber of Commerce; Clearwater Neighbors; VFW; Common Cause for Pinellas County; A.C.L.U. Board Member; Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Hospice and the Phi Kappa Honor Society.

He leaves a loving family: a wife of 61 years, Priscilla Bellin of Largo, Florida; a son, Robert W. Bellin Jr and his wife, Karen of Schertz, Texas; a daughter, Catherine Bellin of San Francisco, California ;sister Judy Mogilewsky of Tampa, Florida; sister in laws, Francis Stoddard of Anderson, South Carolina.  He is predeceased in death by his parents and a 1/2 brother, Joseph “Red” Stoddard.
