Robert Wayne Dennington

Robert Wayne Dennington, born November 3, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan passed away August 11, 2018 peacefully at Bay Pines VA Hospice. He was proceeded in death by his second son, Larry Dennington. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia (Roth) Dennington, sons, Robert Dennington and Brian Dennington (Dayna Dennington) and two grandchildren, Cory and Moriah Dennington.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He loved to garden and took great pride in growing plants and vegetables and then giving away the fruits of his labor. He turned his own backyard into a mini botanical garden. He moved to Florida in 1984 from his home town of Detroit. He did a variety of different jobs until retirement, which allowed him to make a tremendous amount of new friends. While in retirement he devoted many hours of volunteer work at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Pinellas County.
His second most beloved passion was automobiles. In the early 2000s he purchased a 1974 Chevrolet Impala. This allowed him to make many more friends and acquaintances with the conversations that were brought up around the car as he and his wife tooled around town. He continued to expand his intellect with a constant stream of audio books, courtesy of the Florida Public Library. He so loved his family and life and he genuinely exhibited it to everyone he met.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Veterans Funeral Care with Father Bob Swick and full military honors on Wednesday August 15, 2018. Public visitation will start at 5:00 pm and Service will start at 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Florida Botanical Gardens or Hospice on his behalf.
