Robert P. Giles III, age 73, of Seminole, Florida, passed away on October 9, 2024, at The Seasons Belleair Assisted Living Facility due to complications from vascular dementia. Born on December 9, 1950, in St. Petersburg, Florida, he was the son of Robert P. Giles Jr. and Ruth Gilbert.
Robert married Patrice Wendel on August 12, 1977, at St. John’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, and they shared 47 wonderful years together. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patrice; his sons, Christopher and Brandon; daughters-in-law Rebecca and Marissa; and cherished grandchildren Rilynn, Maverick, and Everly. He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
A man of many talents, Robert briefly played baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates and proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. He graduated from Florida State University and dedicated 32 years of his career as a medical media specialist at the Veterans Bay Pines Hospital.
An avid golfer, Robert enjoyed participating in various leagues throughout Pinellas County, particularly at the Seminole Lake Country Club, where he also worked part-time as a starter. He was a passionate musician, skilled guitarist, and talented photographer, with a deep love for technology and the music of Paul Simon.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Seasons Belleair Assisted Living Facility’s secure memory unit for their exceptional care and kindness during Robert’s stay.
A Memorial service with full Military Honors will take place on November 22, 2024 at 1:00PM located at Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
