Roger Floyd Quernemoen


Quernemoen, Roger Floyd, 85, of Temple Terrace, FL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2017. He died Sunday at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace (on the eve of Hurricane Irma). He was born and raised in Fergus Falls, MN, and a native Floridian since 1960. He was a charter member of Belmont Baptist Church for over 40 years and member of First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace for the last 10 years. Roger served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic inspector at Lockheed AFB in Marietta, GA, during the Korean war, married during his service and later moved to Tampa. He followed the tradition of his family – he bought his own milk truck and worked for Sunny Brook Dairy where his wife’s mother worked as a bookkeeper. His parents had owned a dairy farm, Melvin P. Quernemoen Dairy Service, in Fergus Falls, MN. Prior to school each morning, he and his 2 brothers milked the cows and their father would deliver milk every morning. His older brother, LeRoy, also owned his own dairy business, Quernemoen Dairy Service, for 40 years, and later was run by his son, Brian, for 22 years. Roger later worked with his wife’s father & brother in pre-owned car sales for many years. In 1991, he assisted his son-in-law in opening family upholstery business as bookkeeper until he retired.

He is predeceased by his parents, Melvin P. Quernemoen (Nan); He is survived by brother, LeRoy Quernemoen (Mary Ann); and brother, Russell Quernemoen (Joyce). He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jean Quernemoen. He is survived by daughters, Janice Menendez and Karen LeJeune (Faren); son, Ron Quernemoen; 5 grandchildren, Matt Menendez (Evan), Christin Menendez, Carlyne Van Dyke, Faren LeJeune, Jr., and Danielle LeJeune; 6 great grandchildren, Nya, Zack, Lenny, Kimmie, and Stevie Menendez, and Morgan Van Dyke.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Senior Pastor Gary McNeal of FBCTT to officiate. Family and friends received before and after service. Chapel and Café reserved 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Melech Hospice House, 11125 N. 52nd Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. Roger will be honored with a military gun salute and then buried alongside of his wife at the Florida National Cemetery in 6502 SW 102nd Avenue Bushnell, FL on Friday September 22, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
