Ronald A. Gonzalez, 80, of Homosassa Florida and formerly a life long resident of Tampa, Florida. He also lived in Jacksonville, Florida; Largo, Florida; Redington Shores, Florida and finally residing with his son in Homosassa, Florida. Ronald passed away at his son’s residence in Homosassa, Florida on May 22, 2023. Ronald was born on September 20, 1942 in Tampa, Florida to Armando and Isabel (Fernandez) Gonzalez.
His military honors service is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 1000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33744 with the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Chaplin of the American Legion Post 273, officiating. He was a Vietnam War Era Veteran and served as a stock clerk. Ronald was honorably discharged after being assigned to Patrol Squadron FIVE in Charleston, South Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald A. Gonzalez Jr.; a granddaughter, Ariane C. Gonzalez, a great granddaughter, Mercedes M. Aderholt and is survived by sister, Janel (Mark) Derrah; sons, Richard E. (Latisha); Robert M., (Krista) Gonzalez: 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many many close and extended family members.
He served in the US Navy from 1961 till 1965 and after his discharge, he worked at JCPenney Corporation as a general manager. Ronald also worked as a manager of a self employed contracting business and spent many years on the board of the condominium in which he lived. He spent 37 years helping others. Ronald loved to hunt, fish and also he was a connoisseur of a fine single malt scotch. His proudest achievements were his family.; time spent serving in the United States Navy; work ethic; attention to detail and Ronald’s integrity. What makes Ronald unique was his sense of humor; he lit up a room; his laugh and generosity of giving his time to others and Ronald’s ability to help others in need.
I love you dear friend. I will miss you voice, your incredible laugh. We have been friends for almost 30 years. We shared so many wonderful memories. You knew how to love, to give to show kindness. You were there for me when I needed a friend. Our conversations were so special the fun memories will always bring a smile but for now I grieve for I will miss my dear friend. You have a part of my heart. Until I see you again, please know how much I love you. Be at peace my sweet friend 🙏🙏💕💕🦋
