Ronald Floyd Schlauch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 78. He was born on February 3, 1947, in Washington, D.C., to Floyd Maurice Schlauch and Margaret Ann (Shellhorse) Schlauch, who preceded him in death.
Ronald’s life was a tapestry of service, love, and devotion. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, a commitment that exemplified his strong sense of duty and patriotism. After his military service, Ronald dedicated himself to his family, nurturing a loving home filled with laughter and joy.
On October 19, 2012, he married the love of his life, Joanne Lawrence. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, marked by shared dreams and unwavering support for one another. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their family, which Ronald cherished deeply.
Ronald is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne; his daughters, Lisa Bowman and Jennifer Smalt; and his son, Brian (Tiny) Schlauch. He was a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Sidney Bowman, Samantha Bowman, and Emily Smalt. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Ronald is also survived by his sister, Becky LaQuay, who will miss him dearly.
His passing came after a courageous six-month battle with illness, a testament to his strength and resilience. Ronald faced life’s challenges with grace, never wavering in his love for his family or his spirit of perseverance.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on October 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Florida National Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
