Beloved husband of Joan M. Halscheid (née Barbieri).  Dear father of Michael A. Halscheid of North Port, FL and Matthew A. (Kimberley) Halscheid of Cherry Hill, NJ.  Loving grandfather of Shade H. Halscheid.  Dear brother of William H. (Fran) Halscheid, III of Mullica Hill, NJ and Philip (Janice) Halscheid of The Villages, FL, formerly of Woolwich Township, NJ.  He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Ron Halscheid was born to parents Phyllis M. (née Crudele) and William H. Halscheid, Jr. in Camden, NJ on October 15, 1951.  He and his family lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where he attended Cherry Hill High School West.  After graduation from high school, Ron entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class earning the rank of TM2 (Torpedo Man) on the U.S.S. George Bancroft from November 20, 1970 until December 28, 1973.  During his time of service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.  He then joined America’s Naval Reserve until November 11, 1975.  Ron furthered his education at Camden County College while working as a photographer and a graphic artist.

Ron and his wife settled in Atco, New Jersey, where they raised their two wonderful sons.  Married for over 40 years, together they enjoyed many happy decades surrounded by their loving family and dear friends.  Leading up to his retirement, Ron was employed with the Camden County Department of Public Works.  Ron and his wife then relocated to North Port, Florida in October 2011.

While in Florida, Ron was an active member of the Moose Lodge 2121, Elk’s Lodge 2606, and American Legion Post 110.  He was an avid ham radio enthusiast with the distinction of being a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator with Extra Class Privileges.  Ron had a particular love of the water with hobbies that included boating and swimming and was also quite fond of home improvement projects.  But, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with the people he loved.

Ron Halscheid was a loving and dedicated family man.  He was an extraordinarily hardworking individual who never wavered from his responsibilities. His comedic sense was unsurpassed and everyone who knew him could be brought to smile with his encyclopedic knowledge of jokes and pranks.  His sense of humor lightened each day and he always had a joke ready for any situation.  Ron’s family and friends will miss him profoundly but remember him always as a gentle and protective soul whose memory will serve as a fountain of laughter and love forever.
