Rose Virginia Meoni

Rose V. Meoni, 96, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. Rose was born in Providence, Rhode Island and was the daughter of Pasquale and Virginia Vigliotti. Rose grew up in Rhode Island with her brother David, and pre- deceased sisters (Ida, Eleanor, Lucy). After graduating from high school, she worked in a jewelry store and enjoyed going to dances often with her sisters.

After WWII, she met Antonio (Tony) Meoni, the love of her life, at a local dance. They married on April 7, 1951, a union that lasted for 63 years. After a few years, they settled in Colonia, New Jersey raising their family and building lifelong friendships. They enjoyed dancing together (Cha Cha Cha) and traveling but having family and friends over for backyard BBQ’s and, later in life, visiting their children and grandchildren were their greatest joys.

Rose was ahead of her time and was passionate about good nutrition and exercise throughout her life. She regularly exercised and prepared healthy meals for her family and friends from her own garden. Rose absolutely loved reading, word games, and crossword puzzles, and made an effort wherever she was to find a Scrabble partner.

In the mid-70’s, after raising her family, Rose was a successful realtor in Middlesex County for over twenty years, helping many families find a home. Rose was also a devout Catholic and spent many years as a member of St. John Vianney parish before moving to Dunedin, Florida. When she eventually moved into independent living in Palm Harbor, she led the march to have the facility provide a bus to take her and her friends to church every week.

Though Rose may be gone from this earth, her love remains forever in our hearts. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Tony Meoni, and son-in-law, Peter Campisi, and is survived by her 5 children, Michael Meoni, Lucy Meoni, Rosemarie Campisi, Anthony Meoni and Joseph Meoni, 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother David Vigliotti, niece Virginia Johnson, daughter/son-in-laws (Dorian Meoni, Susan Meoni, Melody Meoni and Michael Klag), and many other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will take place at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ 08820. Visitation Friday, September 29 6PM – 9 PM. Funeral Mass Saturday September 30 th 9 AM at St. John Vianney Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia. Burial services will follow at St . Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
