Roy L. Zeches, 59, of St Petersburg passed away on November 21, 2020 at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center, Bay Pines Florida. Roy was born in St Petersburg, FL on March 3, 1961 to LaVern and Annabelle (Boake) Zeches and was a US Navy Veteran; a retired toll collector for the State of Florida and attended Central Christian Church in St Petersburg, Florida.
He is survived by his loving family: a wife, Kimberly Zeches of St Petersburg, Florida; children: Eric Lindberg of Clearwater, Florida and Elizabeth Cortorreal and her husband, Kyle pf Pottsville, Florida.
Church services are 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Central Christian Church, 6161 22nd Avenue North, St Petersburg, Florida 33710with Pastor Rich Franz, to officiate. Military funeral burial and military honors will be 1:30 PM, Monday, December 7, 2020 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33774 with the US Navy and USMC DET # 54, Honors and Ceremonial Teams, officiating.
Roy was a shipmate while in the Navy. Roy was one of a kind; someone who was fun to talk to, fun to watch (and to learn from). Roy offered a common sense approach to all activities that demonstrated how he looked at the world from a different and interesting perspective. Many of use were thrilled to meet up with Roy a couple of years ago on Facebook. Fairwinds and following seas, shipmate.
Roy and I were stationed on the USS America CV-66) in the Photo Lab at the same time. This was both of our first commands.
