Samuel “Sam” Charles Perry, passed away on April 30, 2022 at the age of 70, in Venice Beach, Florida. After battling serious medical issues for several years, he passed away peacefully in his sleep, shortly after suffering from a stroke. Despite his struggles, Sam continued to be a fighter until the end.
Born on February 20, 1952, Sam was one of two sons, born to Harold Perry and Katherine Barney. Sam’s early life was spent working to provide for his family. After marrying his first wife, he enlisted in the Navy where he learned how to operate and inspect cranes. He spent most of his adult life working as a Crane Inspector, traveling the world helping to improve the safety and welfare of those in various construction industries and those who benefit from their work. At the time of his death, he had been retired for several years, happily living the “Beach Life” in and around Sun City, Florida. His favorite place to be was on a boat in Treasure Island, Florida.
Sam is survived by his daughters, Chrystene Milner and Jessica Berg; his granddaughters, Marina Crinean and Destiny Crinean; his great-grandson, Azakiah Flores; his brother, Dave Perry; and the countless friends and lives he touched throughout his life. Sam was predeceased by his father, Harold Perry, and his mother, Katherine Barney.
A Vietnam Veteran, Sam served dutifully in the United States Naval Construction Battalions, aka the Navy Seabees for eight years. Always proud of his service, he never passed the opportunity to stop and thank another Veteran for theirs. In his honor, his remains will be placed at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, located in St. Petersburg, Florida.
His family will be celebrating his life in a private memorial. Memorial contributions can be made to the Seabee Historical Foundation 501(c)(3) at https://seabeehf.org/ support/ or at CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation, P.O.Box 657, Gulfport, MS 39502

To the man I grew up with sharing twenty-four (24) years of our lives together and the gift of two (2) beautiful daughters. May your time now be at peace where all your dreams come true. May we all only remember the best of times spent with you. You are loved!
