Sandra Lynn Woodard


Sandra Lynn Woodward, “Sandie,” age 85, of Largo, Florida, was peacefully set free from her earthly struggles on Saturday, September 16, 2023, while at home and surrounded by her family. Having finished her race here on earth, she wholeheartedly welcomed the promise of eternal life through her enduring faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Sandie was born on July 4th 1938 at Ross Private Hospital in Canton, Pennsylvania to the late Joyce and LaRue Kilgore.
Sandie worked several jobs throughout her career in the manufacturing, secretarial, and retail industries and was always hard at work when she was home, where she enjoyed crocheting, crafting, cooking and baking for those she loved. Sandie loved to travel and camp or just wind down with a good book or watch the first sporting event she would catch on tv while scrolling through channels. Most importantly, Sandie was well loved and she cherished making life long memories, through her unconditional love, laughter, and wisdom, with four generations of family who were fortunate and blessed to claim her as their own and who will forever cherish those treasured memories.
Sandie is survived by two brothers, Kent (Janet) Kilgore of Zephyrhills, Florida and Jim Kilgore of Seneca, South Carolina, her daughter Lynne Durfee of Pine City, New York, son Brian (Sally) Swain of Schellsburg, Pennsylvania, daughter Bethanne (Todd) Snavely of Largo, Florida, and her beloved and faithful puppy Chew Chew. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Lynnette Smith, Nathan Swain, Carolyn Swain, Amanda Swain, Shelly Gates, C.J. Gates, and Seth Snavely, as well as, four great grandchildren; Kayelynn Smith, Nathaniel McCutcheon, Dylan Gates, and Karson Snavely. Sandie was also a mother to five stepchildren and two foster daughters, and was loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sandie was preceded in death by her husband Merle Woodward, brother Dale Kilgore, and sister Marilou Fethers, as well as, her sisters-in-law Carol Kilgore, Sandie Kilgore, and brother-in-law Jerry Fethers.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 27th at Veterans Funeral Care, Clearwater, Florida, at 11am, preceded by a time of gathering from 10 to 11am. A Committal Service will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 2pm.
