passed away, at home, early Thursday morning, November 7, 2019 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She was 74. She was married to her husband, Peter for 55 years. He was at her side holding her hand as she quietly and peacefully slipped away. She was also surrounded by her family. She is survived by three children, Michael and wife, Stephanie, Stephen and wife, Maureen, and Jennifer; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Catherine.
Sandy made everyone who knew her happy. She was a ray of sunshine who made everyone’s day brighter. She loved flowers and animals. She patiently fed a stray female cat for three years before she could get close to it. The cat and her two kittens have now adopted us and are a part of our family. She was also the glue that bound our neighbors together. She could be counted on for friendly advice and to babysit any neighbor’s pets. She even babysat a pet turtle for two weeks.
As the wife of any Army officer, she moved 15 times in 29 years and somehow always kept everything organized. When her parents died in their 50s, leaving two minor children, she brought them into our family and raised them as her own. She will be dearly missed, but the happy memories that she left will continue to brighten the lives of all who knew sher. A memorial service for Sandy will be at 11:00am, November 22 at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 639 Edgewater Drive in Dunedin.
I had the priviledge to get to know and work with Sandy for years. She taught me alot and we shared lots of laughter. Margot and I dubbed her “momma duck” as she always kept us in line at work. She even held my wedding shower in their homewhich I will never forget, how she kept that a secret I will never know. I will miss her wisdom and friendship. My prayers and thoughts are with you Pete and the entire family.
