Shelby Jean Haynes, 88, of Pinellas Park, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Shelby was born on May 1, 1938, in Union City, Tennessee, to the late James Woodrow and Eldora Thurmond. She was married to David Allan Haynes for 56 years and was a faithful member of Countryside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Allan Haynes, her parents, and her siblings, James, Coleen, and Kenneth Wayne Thurmond.
Shelby is survived by her children, John Haynes and David Haynes II, and her granddaughter, Erika Snook-Haynes, along with other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Countryside Baptist Church, 2525 N. McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, FL 33761. A service will follow at 2:00 PM.
Shelby will be laid to rest at a later date with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
The family invites those who knew and loved Shelby to remember her life and legacy and to keep her family in their thoughts and prayers during this time.
