Shelley Grodsky Prinkey passed away after a second battle with cancer on June 30, 2022. She was born August 22, 1951 in Manhattan, NY. Shelley joined the Army when she was 18 years old and proudly served our country. She spent 40 years of her career working at the James A. Haley VA Hospital as a respiratory therapist. She was incredibly proud of her job and made such a difference in the lives of so many veterans and all those she worked with. She spent her breaks and lunches working with patients that needed a bit extra care.
Shelley is survived by her husband, Todd Prinkey, her brothers Mark Grodsky (Mary Jo) and their children and John French (Pam) and their children, a sister Debbie, and her extended family which includes Carol and Luis Perez their children Nichole and Anthony (Emily) and their children Lucas, Gabi, Oliver, and Fitzpatrick, Scott and Nancy Prinkey and their son Ryan (Kari) and their children Elizabeth and Alexandra. She was preceded in death by her sister Leah and her parents Velva Jane and John.
Shelley and Todd lived a life filled with love for each other. The love they had for each other was always apparent. Some of Todd’s fondest memories go all the way back to when they were dating. Their first date was to a movie. While they were dating Shelley gave Todd a key to her apartment so he could watch her cable TV. Todd always wanted to keep Shelley safe and she did the exact same thing for him. They took turns taking care of each other at various stages of their lives. They loved vacationing to visit Todd’s family up north and going to see Mickey Mouse in Orlando. They were avid Disney goers for years and Shelley was a collector of pins and participated in pin trading. When they stopped going to the parks they often would still go to Orlando to attend various gun shows where she made so many friends over the years. They also invited extended family to spend time with them on those trips.
Shelley had a good sense of humor, always had helpful tips and tricks at her fingertips, always came prepared, and loved coffee. But what she loved most in this world was her husband and her family. She will forever be missed by all of us.
Arrangements entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care.

Aunt Shelly you are missed abundantly. Gabi told me this morning she’s most happy you aren’t in pain anymore and I have to agree with her. We are doing everything possible to take care of Uncle Todd. I will keep every promise I made to you. I’m so grateful for the chats we had over the last several months and the opportunity to really get to know you on an adult level once I became a mom. Love always.
