Susan Elizabeth White

In Loving Memory of Susan Elizabeth White
January 25, 1943 – November 19, 2024

Susan Elizabeth Barnes White was born on January 25, 1943, in Tampa, Florida. She passed away on November 19, 2024, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and is now rejoicing with Jesus, in Heaven. On January 6, 1963, Susan married Gerald White. Together, they raised two children, Elizabeth Gladys Idella Smith and Gerald Roy White Jr., whom she loved with all her heart.
Her heart overflowed with pride and love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest blessings: Meghan (James) Clark and their children, Charley Beth and Walker; Easton (Callie) White; Colby (Emery) Smith and their children, Taelynn and Sauyer; Hunter (Sydney) White and their daughter, Ivy Skye; and Schuyler White.

Susan graduated from USF in 1964 with her teaching degree. She taught Art at Land O’ Lakes High School for 32 years and the thousands of students she taught were often talked about years after she retired. Beyond the classroom, she found great joy in cooking, especially her famous cheesecake. She was a Master at painting, with a special gift for murals you can still find in schools, businesses and homes from Florida to Colorado. She was very excited about her last piece portraying a bull and cowboy that will be finished by her granddaughter Meghan.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. Susan was a devoted member of Keypoint Church in Arkansas and Grace Family Church for the years she lived in Florida, drawing joy and strength from her relationship with the Lord. One of her most cherished moments was being water baptized at Grace Family last year by her loving son, Pastor Jerry.

Susan is also survived by her sister Patricia and her brother, Robert (Karen). She joins her husband, Gerald; her mother, Doris Barnes; and her brother, Richard, in Heaven, where they are undoubtedly sharing smiles and stories. Susan’s life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and the sweet aroma of faith-filled living. Her memory will be forever cherished, her recipes shared around family tables, and her legacy carried on in the hearts of those she touched.

A celebration of her life will be held in Land O’ Lakes on Hwy 54 & Collier Pkwy at Grace Family Church. Our Mom loved to wear denim. In her honor we are asking everyone to wear their favorite denim to the service.
