Tanya Ferguson Moore was born in Greensboro, North Carolina October 24th, 1960. She was welcomed by her parents Dorothy Luvenia Ferguson and Lorenzo Ferguson. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Wake Forest Medical School Physician Assistant Program, and Alderson Broaddus Hospital Medicine Physician Assistant Master’s Program.
On March 8, 1996, Tanya married the love of her life Frankie Moore. Together they had 28 years of marriage, three beautiful children, and a dog Izzy. Left to cherish her precious memories is her loving husband LTC (ret) Frankie Moore; daughters Dr. Marquesa Moore, Dr. Mallory Moore, Maggie Moore (DVM candidate); stepson Darel Moore, great-nephew Asaan Thompson, her mother Dr. Dorothy G. Brown, stepfather LTC (ret) John B. Brown, Jr, and brother Chief Warrant Officer (ret) Rodney L. Ferguson.
Tanya F. Moore, age 63, of Tampa, Florida died September 25, 2024, at Moffitt Cancer Center following her battle with leukemia.
Colonel (retired) Tanya F. Moore served her nation for 31 years. She enlisted in the United States Army in 1986. “I remember the day I arrived at basic training, Fort Jackson, South Carolina. I was only going to serve four years. I have no regrets.” Her military awards and accolades include Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Medal, Order of Military Medical Merit, “A” Proficiency Designator and parachutist badge.
Tanya was a member of Grace Family Church where she served as part of the traffic ministry and youth group leader at the Dream Center in Ybor. She was guardian ad litem for Hillsborough County, president of her neighborhood HOA, medical staff for Ezra Vision Ministries embarking on mission trips to Haiti, team mom at Cheer Express and business owner and founder of All American Veterans Claims.
She was an avid sports fan for the Dallas Cowboys, Florida State University Seminoles and Golden State Warriors. She enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, shopping, music, dancing, and entertaining friends and family.
Her proudest moments and achievements were everything related to her children’s accomplishments. Her support and devotions to her family were her inspiration.
What made Tanya so unique was her compassion to serve others! Her kindness, caring nature and compassion for others amplified her profession as a physician assistant. Taking care of others was her lifelong mission.
The family would like to thank the many heartfelt thoughts and prayers we have received. We thank you for the flowers, cards and food sent during this emotional time. We cannot adequately express our appreciation for all your support, kind words and sympathy. We thank you all for traveling from near and far to honor Tanya. May God be with you all as He is with us!
Mrs. Moore’s services have been entrusted to Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, FL.
On Thursday evening, October 3rd, from 6:00pm – 8:24pm a Wake/Vigil will be held at Veterans Funeral Care (830 N. Belcher Rd, Clearwater). At their church on Friday morning, October 4th, the Moore family will receive guests for Viewing/Visitation from 9:30am – 10:30am, followed by a 10:30am Funeral Service at Grace Family Church (22920 SR 54, Lutz,, at corner of 54 / Collier Pkwy).
Her interment will be at 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102 Ave, Bushnell) accompanied by Full Military Honors by US Army Funeral Honors Team.
In Lieu Of flowers, the Moore family is encouraging donations be made here, in Tanya’s memory, to be shared with several organizations that she has supported over the years and have had a role in supporting her as well.
