Theodore C. Freitag-COLONEL-USAF-Retired

Colonel Theodore C. Freitag, 86, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away at his residence in Palm Harbor, Florida from natural causes on June 8, 2019. He was born on October 4, 1932 to Charles and Charlotte Freitag.  Colonel Freitag was a retired United States Air Force Fighter Pilot/ Instructor Pilot and Tactical Reconnaissance Pilot. He served our nation during the Korean and Vietnam War Eras. He retired from the United States Air Force on June 30, 1982 from THE PENTAGON in Washington, DC. He moved to the Palm Harbor area in 1993 from Manassas, VA.

During his military career, he was awarded the Bronze Star;  Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; AF Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; US Army Good Conduct Medal; Combat Readiness Medal; AF Longevity Service Award with Six Oak Leaf Clusters; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; National Defense Service Medal with One Bronze Star; AF Outstanding Unit Award; Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Medals; AF Presidential Unit Citation; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Legion of Merit. He graduated from Pilot Training, Squadron Officers School and the Air War College.

Colonel Freitag is survived by his loving family: his wife, Jackie of Palm Harbor, Florida; children: Bob and Carol Ryan of Virginia and David and Beth Ryan of Texas; Maria and Fabrice of France;  Tina and John Kurtz of  Virginia; Michelle Freitag of Virginia; a brother, David Freitag and his wife, Kathy of Florida; a sister, Carol McClennen of  Florida; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, Florida, 33744. Chaplin Garth and the United States Air Force Honor Guard will officiate.

Please send  floral arrangements directly to the cemetery prior to scheduled service time. Those who wish may make a donation to Suncoast Hospice in the memory of Colonel Theodore C. Freitag.
