Theodore (Ted) Henry Eckerson passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 22, 2022, at
the age of 92.
Ted proudly served in the US Navy Submarine Service and spent most of his working career as an
engineer with GTE. He was a proud husband and father and will forever be remembered as “Papa.”
Ted is survived by his wife of 67 years, Valerie, and his brother Don Eckerson (Margaret). Ted and Valerie
had five children, Tom (deceased), Terry Armstrong (Dan), Ted Jr (Janet), Cheryl Morman (Ken) and
David (Hazel). Grandchildren: Kimberly, Krista (Travis), Adam, Kylie, Kelsey, Kailyn, Karley, Tyler, Logan,
and Ella. Great-grandchildren: Kendall, Kamryn, Aiden, and Colton.
The graveside inurnment ceremony will be held at Myrtle Hill Cemetery on February 6 at 12pm. The
reception luncheon will follow at the Blount & Curry at Garden of Memories Funeral Home (4207 E. Lake
Ave.) at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Shriner’s Hospital or Hospice.
