Thomas Alex Reeder


Thomas Alex Reeder, age 87, went to live with the Lord on November 25th, 2022 in Sebring, Florida. Tom passed peacefully in his sleep with his beloved wife, Faye, by his side. 

Tom’s memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at the Sebring Church of the Nazarene, 420 S Pine Street, Sebring, FL 33870;  the viewing is from 12:30-1:00 P.M. and the service will be at 1:00 P.M.

On Tuesday December 6th at 1:00pm, the United States Air Force Honor Guard will help the family lay Tom to rest with full honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Tom was born December 1, 1934 in Piqua, Ohio to Gerald and Dorothy Reeder, the 2nd of 11 children. 

Tom joined the Air Force in1954. He was stationed in Florida before leaving for a tour of duty in Greenland with the Hiran Surveyors Society of the1374 Mapping and Charting Squadron. While in the Air Force he played basketball for the 1374th.

Tom left the military in 1957 with the rank of Airman 2nd class and returned to Ohio.

He went to work for the elegant restaurant, Helen of Troy where he worked as a chef and eventually became the manager.  This is where he met a young waitress named Faye.

On September 3rd, 1970 Tom married the love of his life, Fayrene Cochlin and her three children, Barbara, Steve, and Mike. They moved to Florida the same year to live closer to Faye’s sister, Nelly.  Tom and Faye had another child together, Annette.  Tom and Faye were inseparable for the 52 years they were married.

Tom worked for the St. Regis Paper/Georgia Pacific company in Lake Placid as a forklift driver for 19 years.

Tom and Faye joined the Nazarene Church in 1970. Over the years, Tom served in many roles including board member and teacher of the 4-6th grade boys sunday school class.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John, Noel Jean, and Sam, and sisters Suzanne, Ozeta, Winnie Kay, and Meri.

He is survived by his loving wife Faye, sisters Carol and Helen, brother Jeffrey, children and stepchildren, Barbara, Steve, Mike, Annette and grandchildren, Adam, Cindy, Christopher, Steven, Corey, Will, Sarah, Lindsey, Jessa and Meghan.
