Vernon Francis Legge, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on September 15, 2017 at the age of 90. Vernon was born on June 3, 1927 to Rufus and Mildred Legge. In 1944, Vernon joined the United States Navy and served as a Coxswain until he was honorably discharged 1946.
Mr. Legge is survived by his four children: Paul Legge of Norfolk, MA, Robb Legge and his wife Carmen Barnes-Holden of Hickory, NC, Diane Legge and her husband, Paul Pergande of Sanford, FL, and Lyn Legge and her husband Reginald Skinner of Pine Lakes, FL; one brother, Keith Legge and his wife Betty of St. Petersburg, FL. Vernon has 6 grandchildren: Bruce Legge, Jake Legge, Craig Legge, Clayton Legge, Mark Cauldwell and Amanda Allen-Devalle; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Vernon was retired from the fencing industry, but passed his talent along to his son, Paul, who owns and operates Legge and Sons Fencing Company. After retirement, Vernon enjoyed spending his time fixing clocks and walking along the beach, particularly as sunset.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Bay Pines National Cemetery: 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd, St. Petesburg, FL 33708.
