“Roy” Trautman, 66, of Clearwater, FL was born in New Orleans, LA on February 15, 1948 and passed away on September 18, 2015 after a lengthy illness while being surrounded by his family at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, FL.
Roy was a 1966 graduate of Dunedin High School. He then entered the Air Force for four years, earning the rank of Sergeant. Returning, he became a crane operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers. He became more interested in music and singing. He played in numerous well known area bands as a lead singer and taught himself to play a number of instruments. Roy had a natural ability to talk with people which led him into sales with Orix Credit Alliance Corp. where he was the recipient of many awards for his skills and camaraderie.
Roy was a strong, sensitive and loving individual who is survived by his two sons, Chris and Eric (Danielle); mother, Marilyn Trautman; brother, Bruce (Ginger); three grandchildren, Cameron, Caiden, and Kailyn; and nephews, Terry and Shawn (Joanna) Trautman. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Full Military honors will be presented 1:30 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines 33744.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Roy’s memory be made to the USF Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders Center. Please contact Sherry Harlan @ 813-396-0768 or sharlan@health.usf.edu.
Keith and I are saddened by Roy’s passing. He not only died too young, he was deprived of the full benefit of his last years; and for that I am truly sorry. I will always remember his compassion. Rest in peace, Roy.
Roy will be missed by all of his classmates @ Dunedin High School – Class of 66. Personally, I will miss him. He was a very dear friend who has been there at all times when I have needed him. I am glad he will not be in any more pain. Roy, my friend, I will see you soon with our Heavenly Father.

Losing Roy so unexpectedly was hard for many of us; but he left behind his footprint in our hearts and memories to keep us going. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Roy will truly be missed by all, RIP Roy and go fly with the angels!
Many years have passed since I’ve seen Roy. Today Steve and I are were sad to learn of his passing. Our heartfelt condolences to Roy’s family. This wonderful man will never be forgotten.
Roy was so full of life and joy. He will be missed.
Being a proud veteran myself,i thank you for your service and hope to met you in heaven.Patricia(Franks)Watson(USAF).
Roy & I were stationed together in Florida many, many years ago. In fact he, myself and Charles Howell shared a beachhouse, on the beach, in Ft. Walton Beach. Was NEVER a dull moment in that place. And, it was seldom without a party on weekends!!
We also played on the squadron softball team and had many laughs (and adult beverages) after some of our games.
Lost track of Roy after leaving the Air Force, but was saddened to discover his passing when I stumbled on his name while looking at some Dunedin websites.
Condolences to friends & family. Maybe we’ll meet on another plane, Roy. Rest in peace, my friend.
