Doug West, 77 passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17 at home with his family by his side.
Doug was born September 15, 1938 to William D. “Doug” West Sr. and Gwendolyn Caruthers West. A lifelong resident of Tampa, Doug graduated from Hillsborough High School. After attending the University of Florida, he served in the U.S. Air Force. Doug worked at his father’s side at W.D. West Insurance; he managed and retired from Curtis Hixon Hall and the Lakeland Civic Center. After retirement, Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, including his beloved wife and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Lyvonne and brother, Carlton; he is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughters, Tracy (Douglas) Mortellaro and Tricia (Terry) Birdsong, and his son Trent West; grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Austin, Amanda, and Matthew; his brothers Lanny (Joyce) West, Gene (Sharon) West and Craig (Alma) West; nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held, 11 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 3412 N Ola Ave, Tampa, FL 33603.
Arrangements are being handled by Veterans Funeral Care, 15381 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760 and flowers will be received there on Friday.

I remember when I was a young teen living next door in Valruco, Fla and babysitting Trent and Trisha with Tracy and feed the chickens in Valrico , Fla I remember going to work with Tracy and Doug at the civic center , good times … Denise mallon
