William Linus Conlon Jr.

William Linus Conlon Jr. passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026,
surrounded by his loving family. By his side, as she had faithfully been throughout his
illness, was his devoted wife and caretaker, Dr. Helen Acree Conlon.
Bill was born on June 1, 1939, in Manchester, Connecticut, to the late Dr. William
L. Conlon and Eileen Kelliher Conlon. He was raised in Manchester and graduated from
Manchester High School in 1957. He went on to complete a degree in Business from
Providence College in 1962. While at Providence, Bill was a proud member of the Glee
Club, nurturing a lifelong love of music and singing.
An accomplished and adventurous spirit, Bill was an advanced skier and
passionate about sports of all kinds. After college, he answered the call to serve his
country as a U.S. Naval Aviation Officer during the Vietnam War, serving honorably until
1970.
Following a brief time in New Jersey, Bill moved his young family to Florida,
where they built a life that continues today. He enjoyed a successful career in real
estate and later became a licensed arborist, continuing to work with dedication even into
retirement.
Bill’s greatest joy was his family — especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing,
mentoring others, and giving his time generously to help people improve their lives. At
his 80th birthday celebration, many spoke movingly about the profound impact his
mentorship had made on them. That legacy of guidance and generosity will endure.
Bill and Helen shared a love of travel and adventure. They spent many summers
at their farm in Pennsylvania and treasured family reunions in Maine. Together they
explored Ireland and enjoyed numerous Caribbean cruises. They were also enthusiastic
supporters of USF Football and cherished game days together. Bill was predeceased by
his parents and his sister-in-law Suzanne Conlon. He is survived by his beloved wife,
Helen; his son Daniel Conlon and wife Melissa of Dunedin, Florida; his daughter Kelly
E. King and husband Jackson King of Tampa, Florida; and Helen’s sons, whom Bill
loved as his own — Malcolm Acree and wife Kim of Clearwater, Florida; Joshua Acree
of Safety Harbor, Florida; and Jason Acree of Clearwater, Florida.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Michael King, son of Kelly King;
Brianna Conlon, Skylar Conlon, Cody Conlon, children of Danny Conlon; Joshua Acree,

son of Joshua Acree; Payton and Jaden Acree, daughters of Malcolm and Kim Acree;
Gallina, Muranda, Heather, Mercedes, daughters in heart of Jason Acree.
He is also survived by his brother Michael E. Conlon of York, Maine, and his
sister Kathleen C. Dunn and husband Gordon of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Bill was a man of substance, integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. His steady
presence, generous heart, and enduring sense of humor will be deeply missed by all
who knew and loved him.
A Military Honors Service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held March 5, 2026, at
2:30pm at the Bay Pines National Cemetery. Address is 10000 Bay Pines Blvd in St.
Petersburg, FL, 33708, Meet at the pavilion.
