William Roy Doolin, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6 ,2016 at the Hospice Care Center, Pinellas Park, Florida.
Bill was born August 4,1944 in Beach Grove, Indiana, a son of the late Maynard LeRoy Doolin and Ruth Peterson, both of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He served in the US Army from 1960 thru 1963. Bill was stationed in Texas, Wisconsin and Indiana. After serving in the Army, he was a Store Manager for Ponderosa and Bonanza Steak Houses
in Indiana. Mr. Doolin later trained in store management for Long John Silvers and Churches Fried Chicken in Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Georgia. Bill was a Deli/Bakery Manager for A&P,
Bruno’s, Kroger, and Harris Teeter in Georgia and North Carolina. He suffered a career ending left shoulder replacement in Raleigh,NC .He eventually lost his left leg below his knee to
amputation.
Mr. Doolin was an avid bowler! He recovered quicker after losing his left leg, wanting to get back to bowling. He loved anything to do with the sport. At one time he was on 3 different leagues in
both Florida and North Carolina. Bill enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, working on his vehicles, his computers and tinkering with appliances. He also enjoyed and was very proud to own his 1994
black rose Corvette convertible.
Mr. Doolin was married to Sherry E. Jordan Doolin on May 18,1995. They enjoyed family, traveling and spending 22 wonderful years together! Survivors include his wife, Sherry Doolin, Sherry’s
son: Jason Barrett Smith, Bill’s children: William Roy Doolin II, Dwayne Arthur Doolin, Troy Martin Doolin, Rhonda Rene Doolin Duncan, Patti Lyn Doolin Jennings, Dawn Michele Doolin,
Elizabeth Stout, and Carla Underwood; numerous grand kids and great-grand kids; sisters: Peggy Doolin Brock, of South Bend, Indiana, Pamela Doolin Holden, of Clearwater, Florida and Sally
Doolin Foust of Brownsburg, Indiana. And the Late Sharon Doolin Jordan of
Raleigh,NC.
